| SwaRa Group of Hotels & Resorts successfully operates multiple hospitality ventures in and around Pune. When did this journey begin, and how has it been?
SwaRa's journey began in 2002 with Bhairavee, a pure-vegetarian restaurant. Located in Baner, surrounded by hills, Bhairavee has weathered many storms during the initial days. However, our commitment to consistency, quality, and exceptional gastronomic experiences helped us gain recognition and carve a niche for ourselves as a go-to authentic vegetarian restaurant. In today’s times when customer loyalty tends to shift quickly, especially in a field as dynamic as hospitality, we’ve managed to build lasting relationships with our guests. Our unique food festivals such as International Food Festival, Biryani & Kebab Festival and Mango Festival have become synonymous with culinary innovation and authenticity.
Today, we also successfully operate two other luxury nature resorts in Mulshi, around 2 hours away from Pune. |
|  | With Mulshi becoming a favorite destination for several other hotels and resorts in recent years, how do you differentiate yourself?
Mulshi is now a popular getaway destination, but that wasn't always the case. When we established Malhar Machi Luxury Mountain Resort in 2010, Mulshi was overshadowed by Lonavala. However, what gave us the confidence to build another luxury nature resort – Jalsrushti Luxury Island Resort, within a span of five years, was our vision to create something unique and responsible.
We blend the elements of nature – earth, water and air, – to create a luxurious and experiential escape. Malhar Machi boasts stunning mountain, sky, and river views, while Jalsrushti is built on an island, surrounded by water from the Mula river on all sides.
What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our deep respect for nature. Our resorts are designed to bring guests closer to the natural world while promoting responsible travel. We believe in creating not just luxurious getaways but also experiences that encourage our guests to appreciate and protect the environment. |
| Sustainability and responsible tourism are increasingly important considerations for travelers. How do your resorts prioritize sustainability efforts, and what initiatives do you undertake to minimize environmental impact?
At SwaRa Group of Resorts and Hotels, we prioritize a sustainable future across our properties. At Malhar Machi Luxury Mountain Resort, we've eliminated plastic bottles entirely, and we encourage guests to carry reusable water bottles. We even use fallen leaves to create paper tags, minimizing waste. We source 100% natural, lab-tested spring water and rely on renewable energy sources like solar and biogas. Jalsrushti Luxury Island Resort complements these efforts by implementing eco-friendly practices to protect the Mula River's ecosystem. This includes careful waste management and water conservation strategies to ensure the river remains healthy and unpolluted.
Our resorts are uniquely designed to blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings. We’ve built our resorts in the heart of nature, respecting the original inhabitants and preserving their habitat. This thoughtful integration allows our guests to experience the beauty of nature up close while we continue to innovate and minimize our environmental impact, making our resorts havens for both guests and the environment. |

A talented and dedicated team is crucial for delivering exceptional guest experiences. My leadership approach revolves around building a family-like atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect, from our junior staff to department heads. Open communication is key, and I encourage everyone to share their ideas, fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to exceed guest expectations. Additionally, we have a dedicated trainer to ensure continuous skill training and development. This ensures that our staff is well-equipped with the right skills and knowledge to create an exceptional guest experience. |

The future of travel is bright! I see a surge in wellness retreats, immersive cultural experiences, and sustainable practices – areas where SwaRa already excels. Travelers are craving personalization, so we're exploring ways to tailor itineraries and activities. Unique destinations like Mulshi are gaining popularity, and technology will play a bigger role, but at SwaRa, personalized service and human connection will always be paramount. We're excited to adapt and grow alongside these trends!

This March, Jalsrushti Luxury Island Resort turned into a playfield for enthusiastic guests, as six families transformed into real-life pirates at as part of our epic "Quest for the Lost Treasure"! Teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition filled the air as they followed clues. Everyone had a fantastic time, and we captured all the excitement!

At our very core is the philosophy of making the planet a better place for everyone. In line with this commitment, we set up a hydration station outside Bhairavee, offering free water and juice to anyone passing by, from pedestrians to bus riders. The month of May was exceptionally hot with temperatures rising in an unprecedented manner. It was a simple way to give back to the community and ensure everyone stayed hydrated in the summer heat. |
